Was my friend sold a returned computer as brand new?

recently a friend of mine got a computer from currys "brand new" and when i was installing office for her i noticed alot of logfiles etc before the dated purchase and someone eles photos it was definitely a return as she went back in the discarded her argument but then she treated them with tell trading standards so they got her a new one.
